Richmond Champion announced on Thursday that he will be out for the remainder of the 2022 season.

Champion posted on his personal Instagram page saying, “The results of a recent MRI showed I have a severely bulged disc in my neck that is compressing my spinal cord. I am scheduled for a cervical fusion tomorrow morning. Obviously these things take some time to heal and will have me on the sidelines for the rest of this PRCA season.”
Richmond is expected to make a full recovery and be ready to compete in the 2023 rodeo season.
This will be the first NFR Champion will miss in six years, and he is coming off back-to-back 8th place finishes in the World Standings.
Champion has earned $26,726 during the 2022 season and currently sits in 16th place.
