Ryder Wright, a two-time PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Champion in 2017 and 2020, is going to miss a few weeks after suffering an injury at the Reno Rodeo on June 21.

Wright was aboard Big Bend Rodeo’s Crash Gate and the horse reared up and pushed Wright back into the chutes. Wright registered a 75.5-point ride but knew something was wrong.

“I smashed four ribs on my left side,” said Wright, 25. “It was just crappy luck. I’m planning to come back on July 13 at the Calgary Stampede. I might put a wrap on it to hold my ribs tight. I’m fortunate because things could have been a lot worse.”

Wright is seventh in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $72,695. Wright has qualified for seven consecutive Wrangler National Finals Rodeo from 2016-2022. He won the NFR average title in 2020.
